Gerd Kühr: Stallerhof

“Stallerhof” takes you to the fringes of society, where taboos such as murder, abortion and pedophilia are part of everyday life. The characters in “Stallerhof” are the worst versions of themselves. The outside world is silent and ignores the fact that those here also have a longing for a better life.

"Shira Szabady impresses in her debut as a director with her skillful direction of characters and emotional penetration of the drama."

Bohema Wien

"The director Shira Szabady does not need a farm to tell this tragically real story, because the lonely, helpless situation in which the characters find themselves is timeless and placeless. Her concept is visually powerful on the wooden grandstand by Nikolaus Webern between the pillars of the Semperdepot."

The Standard

"Shira Szabady's production succeeds in consistently developing this emotional blockage, which makes the tense characters seem like ticking time bombs."

Opera expert

"The director Shira Szabady put it in a way that only makes goosebumps run your skin."

Olryx

"A shock that silences the audience in the darkness of the lowered curtain before they realize how much this terrible sight deserves applause."

Wiener Zeitung

"It's touching how Beppi tries to free herself in this production: When there's time between her mother's nagging and the groping, she sends a kind of message in a bottle to the audience - who of course remain seated in the Semperdepot."
